Human nasociliary nerve with special reference to its unique parasympathetic cutaneous innervation
The frontal nerve is characterized by its great content of sympathetic nerve fibers in contrast to cutaneous branches of the maxillary and mandibular nerves. However, we needed to add information about composite fibers of cutaneous branches of the nasociliary nerve. Using cadaveric specimens from 20 donated cadavers (mean age, 85), we performed immunohistochemistry of tyrosine hydroxylase (TH),...
متن کاملUltrastructural Studies of Human Cutaneous Nerve with Special Reference to Lamellated Cell Inclusions and Vacuole-containing Cells.
One hundred and twenty-nine specimens of human cutaneous nerve obtained from patients suffering from a variety of neuromuscular disorders have been surveyed in detail by electron microscopy. The most striking finding was the presence of lamellated Schwann cell inclusions and of cells containing vacuoles, both of which appear to be derived from myelin and to show some correlation with sensory loss.
متن کاملThe Sacral Parasympathetic Innervation
Autonomic nerves distribute by a variety of methods. They are recognized as components of all spinal and some cranial nerves, but they also have a strong tendency to exhibit a hitch-hiker relationship to arteries and to other nerves. The perivascular plexuses of the head and neck, and of the thorax and abdomen, are especially typical of peripheral sympathetic distribution. In the parasympatheti...
متن کاملStudies on the Innervation of Bone Marrow with Special Reference to the Intramedullary Nerve Fibers in Dog and Goat.
So far as the nerve fibers distributed in the bone marrow are concerned, the course of the incoming nerve was reported in 1900 by DUVERNEY. Papers dealing with the nerves of the bone marrow have been published later, according to STOHR (1957), by GLASER (1928), De CASTRO (1929-30), ROSSI (1932), TAKEYAMA (1936), and others. Also by MILLER and KASAHARA (1963). Nevertheless, the problem on these ...
متن کاملDorsal ulnar cutaneous nerve conduction: reference values.
We investigated the reference values of the dorsal ulnar cutaneous nerve (DUC) sensory nerve conduction (SNC) in 66 healthy individuals. Measurements were processed using stimulating electrodes positioned between the ulnar bone and the flexor carpi ulnaris muscle, 11-13 cm proximal to the active electrode recording. Superficial recording electrodes were placed on the fourth intermetacarpal spac...
